Analogue camera review–Agfa optima 3

I’m so excited about this camera! I got it from my grandparents, whose friends where cleaning up the attic when they found this camera. Thanks to my grandpa the camera didn’t end up in the garbage! THANKS

This is the Agfa optima 3. It is a 35mm camera and was introduced in 1960, I cant find when the camera production was stopped, does anybody know? Please comment!

It’s a pretty simple camera, with a few settings. If you don’t know much about analogue photography, this is a nice and cute camera to snap your pictures. You just put the setting on the lens on ‘A’ (automatic) and your almost good to go. Just switch the other settings on the lens on portrait, group or landscape. Its so simple because the camera has programmed auto exposure control.

If you like to play with some settings yourself, you can put your setting on the manual setting for flash.

Last time I was asking for a flash for Agfa… well, this camera came with the cutest little flash ever! Which I can also use on my Agfa Clack! It came in this cute tiny case. I even got 14 flash bulbs!

I found this little advertisement for it! Couldn’t find a commercial.

The value of this camera is between 20 and 60 dollars, depending on the condition of the camera.

Have a nice week!

Thrift shop day! Vinyl record lamp.

Evernote Camera Roll 20130223 112122

Finally I was able to go to a thrift shop again! This time a real big one! It has two floors, filled with clothes, furniture, old records and record payers, books… just about everything.

BeFunky_Instant_1.jpg

I bought five old records (1 euro!!). Only classical music on them. I wanted to make a lamp out of the records, so I thought I would buy records that are sold less then the others. One with old Hollywood songs. Jaws, star wars, the sting, pretty cool I found those. I want to buy a record player at the thrift shop soon. A record player is something that is really missing in my room! I don’t have a clue what sort I would have to buy, does anybody know something about record players and what I need to look for of I want to buy one at the thrift shop?

Besides the records, I bought a book. Going to do a little DIY blog with that one! So I’m not telling you what I did with it yet! But here are some pictures of what I did with those poor, poor classical music records.

Analogue camera review–The Agfa clack.

pfoo, I have been busy, busy, busy. There is so much to do now. School is getting harder and harder to keep up with. The 3rd period of preliminary examinations are in  5 weeks, 3 weeks after those exams, there will be the resits, and 3 weeks after that I will have my final exams! Its all going so quick, I can’t find the time to write a blog anymore.

But, between social sciences, economics, mathematics and literature, I’ve got a half hour to write a review on an awesome camera!

This week it’s the Agfa Clack.

This camera was manufactured between 1954 en 1965. The early models had a metal body, later the made the body plastic. You can check what model you have by twisting the pin on the bottom of you camera. You can take out the body and see if its made of plastic.

I got this camera a few weeks ago. I love the look of it! Its so cute. I haven’t had the chance to shoot with it yet, but I will soon! I checked lomography for pictures made with the camera, and they definitely have the vintage look to it! of course, depending on what film you use.

Snowy Night Scene with Bikes

Unfortunately, I don’t have a flash for it. If anybody in Holland reads this and has one, I would love to buy it from you!

The camera uses 120mm film, which you can buy at the lomography store. Just click HERE.

The value of the camera, depending on the state it’s in is between 10 and 30 dollars.

I’ll post a blog on how the pictures turn out when I got time for it!

A quick update.

I have been busy all day brainstorming on a project I have been working on with a friend. I wanted to start refurbishing furniture for a while now. I just didn’t know how to start since I don’t have a lot of knowledge of furniture. Now I am working together with my friend Bart. He is a interior advisor student. He knows a lot more about this stuff then I do and he loved the idea of working together on a project! We have been brainstorming quite a bit now and decided to start a blog together to capture the process of it all. The main goal is very simple. “re-use to create new design”. The concept is that the consumer buys a piece of furniture and gets to read how its made, what inspired us to make it, and the story behind it step by step.

If you’re interested, please take a look and maybe comment or follow us! Just click on the picture or the link!

D.I.Y lunchbox.

foto 4

I needed a lunchbox for my lunch at school. I was thinking on buying one. Then I remembered I had about 20 empty plastic bottles in my room. I have to use those. I can’t keep them in my room for ever. So I decided to make my lunchbox from a bottle. It worked out pretty awesome. You can make one yourself too!

Here is how you can make your own:

This is what you need to make the lunchbox:foto 1

First, you need to draw on your bottle where you want to cut. Then cut it out. Then you have to do something tricky. You can do it with you scissors, but I used a Stanly knife:

Now cut out these so you can close your box:

Now you want to make your lunchbox look good. You can do that any way you want. I used tape.

10 Things (most of) you (probably) didn’t know about me.

d7d14a8514fb3da6bb468484b52618b5190d212c

  1. I always listen to conversations of people around me at public transportation and respond to their conversations in my head. I go to school with the bus every day. I always sit in front of the bus and pick a conversation to listen to all the way to school.
  2. I am terrified of public speaking. I have to do some presentations at the exhibition on Friday. I’m waking up at night stressing about 75 people staring at me, waiting for me to say something. When I speak, I tend to say uh…uhmm…about 100 times per minute.
  3. I can not concentrate on something very long most of the time. But when I draw, paint, or build something, I can focus on it for hours. I start drawing, and then “wake up” from my hyper-focus hours later. Finding that someone has vacuumed the entire house, moved stuff in my room, and called me for over 5 times.
  4. I really love to travel. I would like to do some travel blog posts when I’m done with school.
  5. I LOVE baking cookies, cakes, muffins, cupcakes, everything sweet that goes in the oven is good!
  6. I moved to Singapore (Asia) when I was 3 years old. I lived there for a few years. Now I’m back in Holland, but I can’t wait to go back some time.
  7. I am absolutely addicted to LOST. I started the series about 2 months ago and got addicted right away! HOLYMOLY what a good series!
  8. I absolutely HATE Styrofoam. If you would come to me with Styrofoam and broke it in half or squeezed two parts… I’d be running away screaming. I get a really sick feeling from the sound of breaking or squeezing Styrofoam.
  9. When I try to talk to someone who talks broken Dutch. Like a foreigner who just moved to Holland, I automatically talk broken Dutch back.
  10. I will forget your name a few seconds after you introduced yourself. I’m really sorry about that. I always do my best to remember it, but I just can’t.

Don’t forget to like my new Facebook page! I will post updates and giveaways on there!

The Pentax Spotmatic SP

It has been a while since I did one of these vintage camera reviews. I thought it would be time to do one again. This time it’s the Pentax Spotmatic SP. I got this camera from a customer at my work. I was working at the restaurant when this man came to me. He is a regular guest at the restaurant. The man told me he knew I was collecting analogue camera’s. He said he had some at home he would like me to see. The next week he gave me this one for free for you guys to show!

foto 1

The Pentax Spotmatic SP was produced in 1964. It is a 35mm film camera. It was one of the first good selling cameras with through-the-lens light metering. I really like this camera because you can use it right away if you want. No battery’s needed. It does use a battery for the light meter, unfortunately the type of battery is not sold anymore. You don’t have to use the light meter, but if you do, you can put an adapter on your camera and you’re good to go!

There is another thing  I really liked about this camera, which I have never seen on a camera before. It has a little twistable sign which tells you if there is a film in your camera. I personally love this because I ALWAYS forget what film is in the camera.

fotohhuo

It’s a good camera with a good lens. It takes pretty pictures. Perfect camera if you want to begin film photography. If you have any questions about this camera, I’ve got the manual and the repair-manual. So let me know if there is anything!

Have a nice day!

bdabaec85d1d41a19fffc468bc06f038

I know I’m late, but I had some stuff going on and wasn't able to blog. But no worries, I counted your tweets, wrote down names and put them in the hat again… I was thinking, I want to do more giveaways in the future, but picking a winner like this is not working for me if there are like 30 people entering. Does anybody have a good tip on how to make it simple picking a winner? It’s just so messy when I do it like this. Writing down all the names and then writing down the name again if they have tweeted. Anyone? Help?

So….. Who is the winner of this giveaway?

hoedjesCongratulations Sean Brown! Your Kodak instamatic 33 is coming your way! You’ll get an email soon!

Haven’t won this time? NO WORRIES! Then next giveaway is at 200 followers!

The chair.

B&w_1

I finally finished it! About a year ago I came up with the idea of making a chair out of cans. At first, the idea was to make the entire chair out of cans only. Then I discovered the existence of  “recycle design”. I learned how designers make the most beautiful designs using recycled products. One of the most interesting designers would definitely be Max McMurdo with his bath tub couches.

clip_image002

If you’ve never heard of recycle design, Google it. You don’t want to miss out on so many beautiful designs, which (most of them) you can also make YOURSELF!

That brings me to another topic. Do it yourself. It is a super popular concept these days. And that is so fun about recycle design. Most of the designs are made for everyone. Designed to make one yourself. These days, design is for everyone and everyone can be a designer. And that, ladies an gentleman, was one of the main goals I wanted to achieve in  my chair design. Something that makes the chair YOUR design.

So lets stop talking and start showing. This is what I came up with. You can buy this chair as a package. You’ll get the wood only. What YOU have to do is recycle cans. The chair is built to use 6 cans per layer, but if you want to use up all space, you can. You can paint the cans. You can paint the wood. Or you can just keep it simple. Its YOUR design.

For the people living in Holland. There will be an exhibition in Hilversum February 8th 2013. My chair will be exhibited and sold. Well, ill try to sell it… if possible.
