Analogue #5–The Praktica TL-1000—GIVEAWAY?!

bogggggg

It’s time for a new analogue camera to show you guys! This time it’s the Praktica TL-1000. This camera is not that old. It started producing in 1980 and stopped producing in 1984. This is a beautiful camera to look at! Real eye candy. Though, I found it disappointing the black grip is made of plastic. The whole camera feels a bit like a toy camera because of that plastic.

I Do love the simplicity of the camera. It has just a few settings, but is able to make some pretty good pictures. (for what I have seen, I haven’t got the pictures back from development). I have been looking for lenses for this camera in thrift shops. A good plus for this camera. There are loads of lenses in thrift shops everywhere!

Tip: If you want to buy lenses, bring your camera with you, and fit them on your camera body. Do not buy them without fitting. Secondly, never forget to check if there are scratches on the lens. If there are scratches, just use the same method which I had told you guys in my post about how to buy the right vintage camera. FIRST ask how much it costs, THEN tell the owner it’s broken. You’ll end up paying a lot less.  Why buy a lens with scratches? well, if you got yourself one for a small price (I would give 1,50 euro’s for a broken lens)  You can take pictures with them, you’ll get some cool effects. Here is a picture taken with a scratched lens (there is some dust on there too)

One other thing.

I was having a good idea about something. I was thinking about a giveaway when I hit 50 followers (only for the followers on glipho). As soon as I hit that 50, I will write a post about a really cute camera. If you would like to win it (free for everybody, I will send it to you and I will pay the shipping costs) you have to comment on that post, and you have to be following me. Good idea for al those who love vintage thrift shop junk! (More information about this giveaway in the actual giveaway post)

So what do you think?

Cameras, real old cameras.

As some of you know, I’ve got quite a few old analogue camera’s. So I thought, wouldn’t it be nice to show them of a little!
I started collecting old camera’s last year. I had bought my Olympus trip 35. which is a perfect camera to use if you want to start trying out the analogue side. It doesn’t use battery's and it works almost automatically. The only thing you have to do is focusing. Then I started actually looking for them in thrift shops. AND THRIFT SHOPS ARE FULL OF OLD CAMERAS!
My Idea is to weekly, or monthly (don’t know yet) post an article about one of my cameras. So next week, the first one will be posted, about my first camera, the Olympus trip 35. And the week after that (or month) I will show you my second camera, my polaroid image 3. And so on….
I will tell you how I got it, how old it is, and maybe some funny things about the camera!
Here are some pictures of the camera’s I’ve got!

Have a nice weekend!

DIY Saturday.

I got this great brainwave a few days ago. I made an awesome lamp which is kinda easy to make yourself.

lampie

So I made this lamp out of leftovers wool I had from knitting something. I used gel I normally use for painting and diluted it with water (I think you can use glue too).  And I used a baloon for the shape.

2022-1

<--- gel I used.

so first I put a little gel on the balloon so the wool would stick on it. I wrapped the balloon in with the wool until there is just enough room for light to peek out here and there. Finally I diluted the gel with water and soaked the balloon with the wool on it until the wool had absorbed enough gel.

Then you wait a few days for it to dry.

When it’s all dry, you pop the balloon. Make sure you don’t pull the balloon out to hard, then your lamp won’t be as round as you want it to be…

Then you get an old desk light from a thrift shop (or maybe you have one yourself). What I did was making a frame from iron strings, but maybe your desk lamp already has a good frame and you can use that one to put your own made lampshade.

Hope you liked it!

Almost forgot! You have to use a light that doesn’t get hot! you don’t want your amp to catch on fire!

Exams coming up!

Today I officially, seriously started learning for my exams. My first exam’s are in two weeks! I just finished learning about 29 pages of social sciences, which is a lot of work! But I hope It’s all in my head now! Still got about 120 pages to go in two weeks.. And art history, which I like a lot more since it’s about pop art! But still, a lot. Between those two subjects I just had to go outside and get some fresh air. The weather is really good right now. I picked up the dog at my grandmas house, took the camera and my music with me, and went for a little walk. It’s so pretty outside!

Thinking big.

Holy Moly, I just finished a drawing that I’ve been working on for 8 hours(!!!???) It looks quite simple and if you don’t know what I know you’d probably think I draw very slowly… But what you didn’t know (but now you do) Is that this portrait is One by One and a half METERS. So I started drawing on Tuesday, stopped for two days, and finished it today. I hope you guys like it!

Plastic bottles and apple crumble!

I stayed home from school today. Felt very sick this morning and my back still wont get any better. In the course of the day my back got a little better so I decided to do something.
I have had a bag full of empty plastic bottles in my room for a  long time now. It was finally time to actually use them in stead of just letting them stay there on the ground forever.  So here is what I did!

Help, I’ve got a “nothing to do and ooh so bored-day”!

It has been raining all day today. I wanted to start the day by going to the thrift shop. Unfortunately, I have to go there on a bike and I’m not willing to ride my bicycle in the rain for 20 minutes. To and fro, so that would make it 40 minutes of getting soaked.
So what to do, what to do…. I have been knitting for the past couple of hours, but my back is killing me right now. I had to stop and do something else. But yeah, what I just said, what to do, what to do… I’m really bored.

So what do you do when You’re bored? Leave me a comment. Then I’ll have something to do the next time I’m bored.
THANKS
Have a nice day!

My summer in analogue pictures

I was thinking about making my blog post about my vacation and show some pictures of my trip to Turkey.  But since I got all my analogue pictures at once on my mail I decided to make one big story covering my whole summer. All the pictures on this blog post (except for the first two) where made with my analogue camera’s. Two Olympus trip 35’s and one Kodak ektralite 600.

The Kodak:

The Olympus:
So what did I actually do this summer? Lets start at the beginning of it. The last few weeks of school. The weather as getting warmer and nicer. the vacation was so close nobody could concentrate on learning and going to school. For me, the first real summer day was when we made a trip to “De Strook”. The teachers had all decided we could get free from school and all hang out together and have some fun. We had a nice barbecue and went swimming together.

So for me this was my first summer day. It was also the first day of warm weather (about 25 degrees centigrade).
Then the actual vacation begun and it started good. We – my mother brother and boyfriend and I- had a few trips to the beach in “Zandvoort”. I had a really good time there. We normally don’t make any trips to the beach, and I hadn’t seen de beach for over a few years then. This summer we made quite some more beach trips to Zandvoort.   We had a lot of fun!

The last highlight of my summer was my vacation to Turkey. I had never been to Turkey before. I went together with my boyfriend. Who came with the fantastic idea to go somewhere for a week. We had found this amazing hotel in the old center of Antalya. If you ever plan on going to Antalya. The Alp Pasa Botique Hotel is really beautiful and affordable too!

So that was, in a short story, what my summer was like.

I hope You have had A great summer too! Lets hope the winter is going to be as much fun as the summer!
