Chocolate and nuts - Easy and delicious

HL5A0497

Today I made some pretty easy delicious little chocolates. They where so good, just needed to share this delicious simple candy with everyone! They are made in about 10 minutes, though you need to wait for about an hour before you can eat them.

Ingredients.

for 15 pc.

HL5A0416

2  Handfuls of chocolate drops*.

2 Handfuls of a nut-mix you like (I used hazelnut, walnut and raisins).

1 Pan with water.

1 Bowl that is able to resist heat.

That’s literary it!

* if you can’t find chocolate drops, use pieces of normal chocolate bars (it melts less quick).

How its made.

First, you need to melt the chocolate ‘au bain Marie’. Literally translated from French: ‘In Maries bath’. Which basically means you need to heat up a pan with water, don’t boil it. Put in your heat-proof bowl and melt your chocolate in it.

After your chocolate is completely melted, take a tablespoon and make nice little drops on a piece of baking paper (do you call it baking paper? It sounds really weird…I don’t know, how do you call that greased paper for baking?).  Make the drops about 3 cm wide. Then wait about an hour. Don’t try to put hem in your fridge, there will get condensation on your chocolates, you don’t want that.

After an hour they should be ready to eat!

Enjoy!

Foreign food - Turkish tea.

Normally I post something about foreign food. Well, that was the plan, and I did eat en drink a lot of foreign stuff, but I’ve been to busy learning, and haven’t been able to write longer posts. But today, while learning I wanted something to drink. Nothing is better than a nice hot cup of tea while learning. So I was searching for tea when I found some left over Turkish tea we had brought with us from Istanbul from a bazar.
So why not… lets try the stuff….
Ginger, roses, daisies… it was all in there! I had the Turkish apple tea before, but never had this tea. It tasted OK, it didn’t have the JUMMY factor. It looks great though! And it’s definitely taste worthy! So if you’re planning on going to Istanbul one day, just try it!

Greek food.

Typical Dutch food. That would be “boerenkool met worst” which is mashed potatoes with a green vegetable (don’t know the English word) and smoked sausage. I really like boerenkool and eat it every winter. While I was thinking about typical Dutch food, I came to the conclusion that I don’t eat typical (insert country) food. Sure, I’ve eaten Chinese before. And don’t forget the Indian food. But it surprised me how infrequently I ate typical food from other countries. That is something that is going to change. I have obligated myself to eat something from a different country at least once a week week.

That started today.

I started of the new habit with Greek. I’ve never really eaten Greek, which is a shame! I loved it!

For the people that don't know what "boerenkool" is. Here it is.

chickpea salad

Greek bean salad

Greek dolmades

This was a great success! I loved the food and I'm curious what I'm going to eat next week!
